My friend Ari is a very successful Private Investigator, and a Forensic Genealogist. About a year ago though he had finally had enough! Enough of the teasing, enough of the big-pants shopping, enough of the failed attempts to lose weight & diet gimmicks, but perhaps most importantly his little girl couldn’t get her arms around him to give him a hug. Ari once served as an EMT and knew a likely future he would be facing unless he really made a commitment. So- he began taking some important steps. Literally. We talk about those steps today, one year later. Enjoy!

In this episode Peter and Ari discuss:

1:18-  Intro and Welcome Ari!

1:55-  So tell us some about your background & how you got to the “Enough is Enough Place”

3:05-  On his experience with a meal delivery product

3:58-  On his first experience working with a personal trainer, twice a week

5:13-  Most of our listeners are ‘all-or-nothing’ like you. How did you begin & not give up; on day one, day two, day three, etc?

7:15-  What gave you that hit, or encouragement to keep going?

8:20-  On NOT being tied to a goal-weight

9:07-  Talk about the days you messed it up, overslept, etc.

11:28-  What have you learned about yourself?

12:50-  What has been the reaction from your family?

13:30-  What do you tell people who ask you or say: “I’ve tried everything to lose weight & nothing works!!”

15:08-  So what’s your next challenge?

15:30-  ref:  Peter’s trainer David:  The podcast episode.  on Twitter

15:50-  How can people find you for inspiration? @IFindHeirs on Twitter&INSTAFacebook, or email:  Ari@BestPI.com

It was never pointed out to Neil that he had all the tell-tale signs of ADD; not until he was 42 years old and recently separated from his then-wife. A good friend sent him an article on Adult ADHD/ADD. He soon after listened to my bookon a drive to Detroit. The lightbulb switched on and he found himself overwhelmed by his recent self-discoveries. It took him a couple of years, (one on Concerta), to sort things out and fully understand that he wasn’t “broken” or alone. He soon-there-after found a community of dog trainers, discovered the joy that comes from teaching & training dogs, (and their owners), and he committed to owning a training franchise. Has been working in and growing the "Dog space" ever since! His prior pursuits and careers have been: CEO, Marketing Consultant, Chimney Sweep, a few rides during the dot-com boom, Circus Trainer & Performer, scuba diver, competitive unicyclist, world traveler, maintaining his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and being a stay-at-home Dad! It’s a lot. We talk about his journey, his love of dogs and how he’s found a happy home. Enjoy!

In this episode Peter and Neil discuss:

:44-  Intro and welcome Neil!  www.SitMeansSitCT.com

1:29-  So if you had two choices; being the CEOof Norwegian Cruise Linesor owning a Sit Means Sitfranchise, which would it be?

1:46-  Tell us about growing up!

3:48-  Do you think that rebelling was a residual product of your ADD?

4:35-  You switched majors howmany times in college?

5:56-  What were you doing in the circus?

6:31-  Were you finding excitement in switching-around pursuits and jobs?

7:09-  So how did you wind up with dogs?

8:30-  Tell us about a routine day for you, and how does that work with your ADD?

9:48-  How has hiring an assistant changed your life?

11:38-  On relinquishing control and trusting an assistant

12:32-  Tell us about how your ADD is a superpower to you

13:58-  Tell us about the things & routines you must do in order to function each day

16:17-  What do you think is a popular misconception of people with ADD/ADHD?

17:53-  On being kinda 'diagnosed' long before there was an ADHD diagnosis

19:05-  On nonconformity and finding the Middle

19:55-  Talk about the best dog you’ve ever trained

20:30-  How can people reach you Neil?  Neil@SitMeansSitCT.com  Twitter: @SitMeansSitCT  Facebook: @sitmeanssitctInstagramTV: https://sitmeanssit.com/sit-tv/

Out of all the fun things about having ADHD, one of the best might be that you see absolutely nothing wrong with setting insane goals and then reaching them.

Today's guest has done that and so much more. Chris Guillebeau set out to visit every single country in the world before he turned 35. He did it. He's authored several bestselling books, including Side Hustle, The $100 Startup, and The Art of Nonconformity. He hosts the World Domination Summit every summer in Portland, Oregon, and his daily podcast, Side Hustle School, is downloaded more than two million times a month.

Not bad for someone with massive ADHD, huh?

Take a listen and enjoy this fun interview with Chris!

Say hey to DJ John Michael! He's the official DJ in Residence at Peloton Cycle (now known as OnePeloton,) he's trained under Junior Vasquez, and knows more 80s trivia than you do. This isn't assumption, this is fact.

DJ John Michael gives us 30+ minutes of over the top interview, on topics as wide-ranging as music as a calming influence, "taking back your brain" from the background processes, and somehow, we wound up also touching on the 80s TV Show "The Facts of Life," as well as Game of Thrones, the best dance mixes, and of course, Broadway.

There's never been a more ADHD-centric interview in the history of the FTN Podcast!

You're going to love this one. I've listened to it three times already, and I was there when we recorded it!

Enjoy!

Welcome to another episode of Faster Than Normal! This one combines my two favorite topics - What we put in our mouths, and what we sweat out at the gym.

Simply put, this episode is all about food and exercise, and the tips shared by our two guests will, I guarantee you, change how you look at what you eat, and what you do for activity.

From the fitness side, we speak with Amie Hoff, founder of Hoff Fitness, who shares her fitness knowledge as a corporate fitness consultant, personal trainer, media contributor and public speaker. She thrives as a motivator and role model and is regularly called upon to offer her expertise on both national and local media. You can find more about Amie at her website.

From the food side, we speak with Wendy Phillips, MS, RD, CNSC, CLE, FAND is a registered dietitian with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in clinical nutrition, certified nutrition support clinician, certified lactation educator, and a fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Her background includes adult and pediatric nutrition support, public health nutrition, and nutrition advocacy. She first started investigating the science around nutrition and ADHD when her own son was diagnosed at the age of 10, and has since endeavored to educate others on how to use nutrition therapy to thrive with ADHD. Her book is available for purchase on Amazon “Nutrition Management of Children with ADHD” and she can be reached on Facebook and Twitter as Nutrition_4_ADHD.

Enjoy this episode! I learned a ton, I hope you do, as well!

So rare it might as well be raw, but it's still slightly cooked. I don't know if I could go totally raw - But I'm willing to listen. This week our guest is Dr. Jennifer Hartstein. Dr. Hartstein is currently in private practice in New York City, specializing in the treatment of high-risk children and adolescents. But possibly more importantly, (insert sarcasm emoji here,) Dr. Hartstein is my ex-girlfriend. Jen and I dated for about three years, living together for two of them. She might look all cool on TV, but her biggest challenge, hands down, was living with me. :)

This week's guest is Dr. Debbie Rhea of the LIINK project, and this episode is going to BLOW YOUR MIND. I discovered Dr. Rhea in an NPR article talking about how she experimented with a school district in Texas, giving the students more recess time throughout the day to have unstructured play.

BOOM!! THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN PREACHING! Exercise and a healthier lifestyle can change LIVES! It's not always about shoving medication down kids' throats and hoping for the best!

What happens when a furniture designer and a PhD in applied physics decides to change his life and then help others do the same? You get  this week's guest, Anders Fabech Rønnau.

Despite being a Ph.D. in Applied Physics and a Furniture Designer, he is now a leading ADHD Coach and ADHD Coach Trainer in Denmark, and has taught parenting programs since 2010 and ADHD Coach training since 2012. His primary focus is on ADHD, however, his methods work very well with differently wired people with Asperger’s, OCD, Tourette’s and other diagnoses – as well as ”normal” people with ”normal problems”.

OK... Brace yourself here for some seriously massive overachieving...

Our guest this week (taking a deep breath,) is a marketing major at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. She received the Woolworth Award for her academic achievements as well as an award commending her working group for its business plan and presentation. When she's not studying, she works as an MTV Campus Ambassador for the Founders franchise, and is a Guest Writer for freshman-oriented online publication Fresh U.

Oh, did I mention that Emma Havighorst is only EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD? Yeah. Took me a second to process that, too.

Emma has actually never formally been diagnosed with ADHD, yet she set my "ADHD-dar" off the first time I read one of her tweets. You'll see why as you listen to this interview - She's got such a sharp grasp of time management, along with an uncanny ability to understand what's important now, vs. what's important not now.

Parents, this is definitely an episode to share with your kids. As I interviewed her, I was reminded of another guest we had on several months ago, Rachel Cotton, a PhD out of Harvard. Both well aware of their gifts and what to do to make sure they're using them to the best of their ability to live the best lives possible.

Enjoy the episode!

In this episode, Peter and Emma discuss:

  • Emma's back story (03:06)
  • Time management (04:59)

One of the most "mind-blowing" moments of ADHD is when we realize that it's a gift, not a curse. That's what happened to this week's guest, Jack Kosakowski, when he realized that, in his words, "ADHD is essentially how i went from entry-level sales rep to executive/partner in a multi-million dollar agency within 3 years."

This interview covers a lot - from addiction, to impulsive behavior, from using your ADHD to get promoted, loving what you do, and yes, even the negatives of having ADHD. Tune in - It's a good one. Thanks to Jack for taking the time!

In this episode, Peter and Jack discuss:

  • Jack's story (01:58)
  • Medication (03:34)
  • Addictions & impulsive behavior (04:25)
  • Using ADHD to get promoted (07:57)

Another great podcast for you, and I'm thrilled to bring it to you!

This week's guest is one of the people I count as not only a good friend, but a mentor who doesn't know he's a mentor. Please meet former US Navy SEAL Jack Walston. I first met Jack when I took part in his "bootcamp" program in Central Park. Two weeks, from 4:45am to 6:45am, of pure hell. Jumping jacks, pushups, running, carrying, repeat. It was brutal. So brutal, in fact, that I've since done his course 12 times.

Jack is an amazing man, with great stories of his time in the "teams," but more importantly, he's a true inspiration to me. The value he's provided to me over the years will no doubt transfer over to you, as well.

"Mental toughness. It doesn't come in a can." -Jack Walston

Welcome to those who joined us last week thanks to our wonderful conversation with Tony Robbins! We're thrilled you're here!

This week's episode is all about conversation. Without conversation, you can't grow. Our guest this week believes that, as well. Larry Hagner runs The Good Dad Project, a podcast and site dedicated to helping men become the best they can possibly be - The best dads, the best husbands, the best human beings they can possibly be.

ADHD plays a crucial role in our communication - And how we interact with others. Larry talks about all of this, including ADHD in kids, school, and the benefits (and curses) of not following the norm.

Enjoy the conversation, and thanks for listening!

In this episode, Peter and Larry discuss:

  • Larry's backstory (02:25)
  • Acting on advice (06:13)

Ladies and Gentlemen, WE'VE GOT TONY ROBBINS ON THE PODCAST!!

I'm just over the moon here - This is such an amazing interview - Tony was gracious enough to give us close to 40 minutes of solid gold here, from the concepts of "burning your boats," why you shouldn't listen to experts, Tony's diet, how he stays fit, how he deals with uncertainty... There is so much AMAZING wisdom in this interview, I have no doubt you're going to love it!

Amongst everything else Tony does, he also has a great new book coming out, called Unshakeable - I've read it already - It's pretty amazing. There's some economic brilliance in this book, whether you're just starting your first saving account, or you work with money for a living. You don't want to miss this book. (Click the link above for some special gifts if you pick it up, as well.)

Again - Thanks for listening - I'm just so proud of this episode. If you love it, please, please, drop us a review on iTunes - That's how we get more people to understand that ADHD is a gift, not a curse.

Enjoy Tony Robbins!

Sometimes, for people with ADHD, inspiration comes from the most random of places. For this week's guest, Nick Berry, it arrived in the form of a military enlistment, followed by a tour in Operation Enduring Freedom.

Once out of the military, Nick used the hyper-focus from his ADHD to launch SendLift, an online service that sends handwritten thank you notes all around the world. He's a huge believer in therapy, and knows he has his ADHD to thank for his success.

Best tip of the episode: The Chrome Extension "Kill Newsfeed." (See below.)

In this episode, Peter and Nick discuss:

  • Nick's background (02:07)
  • Thank you cards (03:18)
  • Military life (05:07)
  • Routines and schedule (06:45)

The Faster Than Normal Video Course is out! 36 videos to teach you how to take back control of your attention, your time, and your life! Check it out here

This week's guest is Preston Bealle. Preston was one of the last bosses I ever had before I went out on my own back in 1998. He taught me much - specifically, he taught me to be a generalist. It never occurred to me that doing so is exactly what allows many of us to master our ADHD.

Preston touches on some very scary topics in this interview, including feeling like a fraud, failures, and raising kids. He also talks about life rules and doing work that excites you.

If you've ever felt like you're not doing the right thing in your life, this is one FTN that you don't want to miss!

In this episode, Peter and Preston discuss:

  • Preston's back story (02:47)
  • ADHD and formal education (03:44)
  • Work that excites you (05:55)
  • Feeling like a fraud (08:01)
  • Be a generalist (09:54)
  • Being a boss (12:18)
  • Failures (14:19)
  • Contact with customers (15:54)
